Living in Survival Mode Is Stealing Your Time and Your Life
We only live in the present because we are stuck surviving the day, not the weeks or the months.
You call yourself broke because you are stuck in the present, not realizing the present has you in a full survival chokehold. You are not just surviving day to day. You are surviving moment to moment.
Mismanaged time plays a huge role in this as well. We beat ourselves up because of the way our perspective on time is built. There are twelve hours in the day and twelve hours at night.
We absolutely have all the time in the world to get our goals done, something I was never capable of seeing, let alone having the luxury to break down.
“You should take time off and go see a doctor.”
I would always reply with, “I don’t have time.”
But I did have time. I just never realized it. I could not compartmentalize anything worth a damn. I did not know how.
Life will always find ways to teach you, with or without your consent.
Start respecting yourself. Start respecting the fact that you have time, time that has been spent on cleaning, blaming, and being constantly needed by everyone except yourself.
Stop.
Slow down.
Remind yourself that you deserve some of your own time too. I am not talking about the two minute shower you take with the bathroom door open so chaos does not ensue.
I am talking about the time to read the book you have been postponing because someone needed help with homework every chance they got. At some point, it is not even about the homework.
You have to slow yourself down and remember that you are not just a parent, a wife, a friend, or a role. You are so much more. Start reminding yourself of that. You spent too much time helping everyone else accomplish their goals, only to wake up and realize you have gone nowhere but the kitchen.
Bring her back. She is tired of being caged in.
Remember, you have all month to continue surviving the present. Think about what is next. Conquer the daylight while your dreams are still awake.
